Who we are
Futbol Fellowship began in 2018 as an outgrowth from Nashville’s largest pickup soccer group that played at Vanderbilt (now often plays at Centennial Park). The group became an invite group that brought players who were dedicated to playing bonito - or as Jonathan Quijano put it; a “passing game.”
While the Pandemic shuttered many leagues (and there are no other adult soccer leagues in Davidson County registered with the Tennessee State Soccer Association), pickups and the invite group flourished as an outlet for everyone’s frustrations, and as a place to join together.
Since then we have realized that so many in Nashville desire something similar. And, in what can be a isolating city to live in with it’s history of redlining, gentrification, immigration, cultural divides can be bridged through soccer.
For this reason, we put on tournaments and leagues whose proceeds benefit Metro Nashville Public Schools’ elementary soccer programs. For this reason we require pre-match affirmations of our core values of kindness, passion, play, and fellowship. For this reason we host “mash-up” 3v3 and 5v5 fundraiser tournaments whose communal purpose is to intentionally organize individuals into diverse teams for a day filled with food trucks, a music stage, yoga, and championship glory.
At Futbol Fellowship, we don’t want to just compete, but to love the game, improve ourselves, and grow our community.
